Anma To Dorobo

Selamat berjumpa lagi dngan saya sobat semua, semoga sobat semua dalam suasana yang berbahagia dan sejahtera. Marilah sejenak kita merenungkan tentang Anma To Dorobo."

One of my "100 things to do before I die" list is to watch a kabuki. Kabuki is a Japanese dance drama originated since the 1600 where performers wear elaborate make-up relating a story through dancing, singing and comedy. Kabuki today is mostly performed by men. I had the opportunity to enjoy this show here in Kuala Lumpur for free with the collaboration of ASWARA, JFKL and the Association For Traditional Performing Arts of Japan.

This time I was early.
Children and students from ASWARA were seated on the mat and the show begun. It was amazing and I stubbornly clicked away (photos were not allowed but this is just too beautiful to hide or to be made exclusive). I hope to share some of the photos with you so readers will not miss a chance to watch a kabuki. Especially if its organised by The Japanese Foundation.

Before the show started theperformersdemonstratedthe Sukeroku or the art of make up. A dance followed after the make-up, later completed with the story of The Masseurand The Thief .

This particular story was about a thief and a masseur. The thief broke into the masseurs house assuming he was rich because the blindmasseurwas also a money lender. That was when the drama, denial and comedy begun. Relating his sad story, the miser blind masseur pleaded to the thief and even advised him to find a better job. The thief later revealed that he had to steal for his family and pay his debts. Sadden by the pleading and believing the blind masseur, the thief eventually left the blind man alone and gave him some money too. The blindmasseurlaughed over the stupidity of thethiefas theblindman was indeed rich! He was the hero of this story as he won the battle of intelligence and cunningness over quick idiotic means of living.

I was not allowed to take photos of the drama after they caught me taking these. Well sharing is caring. Hehehe.
